Genevieve Nnaji to Star in Film Adaptation for ‘Half of A Yellow Sun’

Sultry Nigerian screen goddess, Genevieve Nnaji has officially announced that she will be starring alongside other world acclaimed thespians in the movie adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s bestselling novel, ‘Half of A Yellow Sun”.

Genevieve will join the star studded cast of Chiwetel Ejiofor, Anika Naomi Rose and Thandie Newton in the upcoming movie which is expected to hit the screens in 2013.

The multi award winning actress who was named on Forbes list of ‘Most Powerful African Celebrities’ will play the role of Ms Adebayo, another professor who gets entangled in a flirtatious relationship with a colleague Mr Odenigbo. Mr Odenigbo will be played by Chiwetel Ejiofor.

BAFTA winning producer of ‘The Last King of Scotland and Gail Egan will produce the film and Nigerian author, Biyi Bandele who adapted ‘Things Fall Apart’ on stage will make his directional debut in the highly anticipated movie.

‘Half of A Yellow Sun’ will be Genevieve’s second major movie. She recently confirmed a role in ‘Doctor Bello’, a movie produced by Tony Abulu and will see Genny star alongside Isaiah Washington, Vivica A. Fox and Jimmy Jean-Louis.
