With a vision of “Taking entertainment to new levels through dynamic and innovative events”, Inner Circle Inc. has overtly upped the ante in the Nigerian entertainment scene with the massive success chronicled at the 7th edition of “The Underground” dubbed ‘’The upcoming DJ Edition”.
According to Shayo Oke, CEO for inner circle, the DJ twist that served as patent for Underground 7 was berthed on the fact that “Nigerian DJ’s are doing amazing work, both in and out of the country” and that it became imperative to “create a platform where talented upcoming DJs can be spotlighted and given a chance to be seen by people who appreciate their talent”.
Hence, on the 12th of May, 2012, the stage was set at the exquisite Ember Creek in Ikoyi Lagos and it was a turn table battle royale, marshaled by the veteran quartet of DJ Jimmy Jatt, DJ Humility, DJXclusive, and DJ Sose.
DJ Woske, DJ Cypha, Dj Realboi, DJ Younix, DJ Xtacee, DJ Annex and DJ King, the seven participating Disc Jockeys knew they had to bring their A-games if they were to score any point with such a vastly experienced panel of judges. So, it’s a no-brainer to guess that a lot of spinning and scratching on the wheels of steel went down on the night, in efforts to sway the judges and the live audience.
However, according to illrymz who co-hosted the event with the lovely Omoye "Brownie", it was a competition and there had to be a winner. Therefore, after fulfilling all ‘righteousness’ in the books of the audience and judges, DJ Cypha emerged winner and consequently walked home with a brand new LG ARX90009(launched during the event) amongst other staggering prizes.
Performances by Teeto Ceemos, Saeon (Pioneer Underground winner), Boogey (Underground 6 winner) who was featured on MI's Illegal Music mixtape as a result of his impressive lyrical prowess, LOS (Undeground 3 runner up), Flowssick and Mr Engager, ensured that ‘Underground 7’ was a mind blowing experience for all present.
“We hope to continue breaking new grounds, entertainment wise and we will build on the success of Underground 7 to ensure that the next edition is even bigger” Taiwo Kamson, the Head of PR and Communications, Inner Circle quipped.
