Didier Drogba Joins Chinese Side ‘Shanghai Shenhua’ For £25M

Ivorian and former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has confirmed he has put pen to paper for Chinese club side  Shanghai Shenhua in a two and half year deal worth  £25M.

 The talismanic Ivorian captain decided to bid Chelsea farewll after helping the London side win its first ever UEFA Champions League trophy. He scored the equalizing goal during regulation time in the final against Bayern Munich and also scored the winning goal during the penalty shoot-out.

 The two time African footballer of the year says he is sure he made the “right move”.

  "I have considered all the offers I have received in the past few weeks, but feel that Shanghai Shenhua FC is the right move for me at this time," said Drogba. "I am looking forward to a new challenge, to experiencing a new culture, and excited about the new developments in the Chinese Super League".

 The 34-year-old is expected to earn around £200,000 per week at his new club.
