Fela's Kalakuta Republic To Become A Museum
Unconfirmed reports have it that late Fela Anikulapo Kuti's Kalakuta republic at Ikeja, Lagos would soon be converted to museum.
According to the report, the ultra moderm project which on completion would have an exhibition area, a coffee shop, a 5-room boutique hotel, a roof-top restaurant, a bar and stage, a souvenir shop, a passenger lift, the tomb area and the car park is supported and approved by the Lagos state Goverment.
After completion, the museum will serve as a preservation of the late afrobeat icon's history. Also, it will promote tourism in line with the Mega City Initiative of Lagos State.
The museum is scheduled to open in october 2012, just in time for 'Felabration'.
