Chopcassava.com, the innovative web series produced by the duo of Funmi Iyanda and Chris Dada recently got international recognition as it was nominated in the best web series (non-fiction category) at the 2012 BANFF World Media Festival.
Although the Festival held last week in Alberta, Canada and the award category was won by ‘Guidestones’ , it was yet another global recognition for ace Nigerian broadcaster and philanthropist, Funmi Iyanda.
Speaking on the nomination, Funmi Iyanda and Chris Dada said: “It was a great honour to be invited to Banff and a fantastic experience meeting the luminaries behind some of the biggest shows in television in the world.”
“As the only African representatives it felt good to fly Nigeria’s flag at such a prestigious event.” They said.
Aptly named "the Olympics of television" by analysts, the Banff World Media Festival –also known as the Rockies is held annually to celebrate the best in world television and digital media production. The event which has honoured the likes of Jim Carrey, paid tribute to legendary CNN talk show host Larry King this year.
‘My Country Nigeria’, a documentary also co-produced by Funmi Iyanda and Chris Dada was nominated for a Monte Carlo Television Festival Award in 2011.
