Nollywood Legend Olu Jacobs is 70! + Biography


One of Nigeria’s greatest movie icons, Olu Jacobs clocked the golden age of 70 today, July 11, 2012.

Born Oludotun Jacobs on July 11, 1942, the Nollywood veteran began his illustrious acting career after training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, England.

Before becoming a household name in the Nigerian movie industry,  he had starred in various British television shows and series, some of which includes The Goodies, Till Death Us Do Part, Barlow at Large to mention but a few.

 In the 1980s the legend also starred in several international films like John Irvin's war film The Dogs of War, Roman Polanski's adventure-comedy Pirates and the family-adventure film Baby: Secret of the Lost Legend.

 Jacobs has starred in over 120 Nollywood films and in 2007, he won the African Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

He is married to another Nollywood great Joke Silva with children.
