Wizkid and Sarkodie Win Best International Act: Africa at 2012 BET Awards + Full Winners List

Nigerian superstar Wizkid and Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie have emerged joint winners of the coveted award for ‘Best International Act: Africa’ at the just concluded 2012 edition of the BET Awards.

The awards ceremony which held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California on Sunday July 1, 2012 afforded the Nigerian Afro-pop sensation his second major international award after picking up the MOBO prize for Best African act in 2011.

Wizkid and Sarkodie had faced a stiff competition from other nominees – Nigerian rapper Ice Prince, Kenyan Hip-Hop/R&B group Camp Mulla, South African singer Lira and French speaking Malian rapper Mokobe for the prestigious Best African Act prize.

Last year’s edition of the awards also saw two Afro-pop heavyweights D’banj and 2face emerge winners in the same award category.
